Essential Skills Program- Mission
There is an opportunity for several people to attend a Workplace Basic and Essential Skills Development Program to be held at Riverside College in Mission through the Canadian Vocational Training Centre starting on August 28 for 10 weeks plus 2 weeks of practicum with a Mission employer.
If you know of individuals that are unemployed or consistently underemployed (less than 20 hours per week) or at imminent risk of unemployment they may benefit by attending this valuable Workplace Essential Skills training program. WorkBC Mission will explore funding options and eligibility as well as pursue co-funding options of cost associated with tuition and other costs for eligible applicants for this 10 week program. Applicants to the program may be either active EI, been on EI in the past 5 years, on Income Assistance, have a Person with a Disability or PPMB designation, or may be a person with a disability. All applicants to the program would have experienced difficulty connecting with employment. Eligible applicants for the program will obtain the assistance of WorkBC to complete the application required to attend. I suspect there will be high demand for the program and not all applicants will get into the program this time but the program will be offered again on a regular basis in Mission.
